Birth Registration of Adults - Double Nationality

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Dutch birth certificate in international format including the Spanish language must be apostilled at the Rechtpraak. In the following link you can see the office closest to your place of residence (https://www.rechtspraak.nl/Organisatie-en-contact/Organisatie/Rechtbanken). If the certificate is only in Dutch, a translation by a sworn translator is required. This document must also be apostilled.
  • Applicant's valid Dutch passport.
  • Ecuadorian ID card or passport of both the father and mother. If one of the parents is a foreign national, they must present their valid passport.
  • Scanned copies of all the requirements mentioned above must be sent for review to the email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • For births that occurred prior to 2014, a certificate of non-existence of registration issued by the Civil Registry of Ecuador (Registro Civil) must be obtained; this process takes 1 to 2 weeks.

Once authorization from the Civil Registry is obtained, you must schedule an appointment via our appointment system and come to our offices in The Hague to complete the birth registration process. To schedule an appointment, please follow these steps:

1. Go to: https://citas.cancilleria.gob.ec/
2. Choose Administrative Center: NETHERLANDS THE HAGUE – CONSULATE
3. Then choose: REGISTRATION/BIRTH REGISTRY
4. Enter your personal information and complete the registration validation process
5. Attach a scanned copy of the supporting documents
6. Choose the day and time of your appointment
7. You will automatically receive an email indicating that your appointment has been registered and the documents will be validated by an official.
8. Once the documents have been validated, you will receive an email indicating that the documents have been validated and will ask you to CONFIRM your appointment, please follow the instructions given.
9. Once your appointment is confirmed, you must come to our offices at the following date and time to complete the procedure: Koninginnegratch 84, 2514 AJ, The Hague.

NOTE: Once the birth registration of the minor has been completed, the issuance of the passport can be requested. The passport costs 90 euros and will be delivered after 3 to 4 weeks.
