Netherlands Senior Experts (PUM)

From 2010 to 2012, 92 projects were executed in Ecuador with the participation of PUM experts in 39 areas, such as Textile Consumer Products, Dairy Processing and Products, Metal Processing and Horticulture, Flowers and Plants.
Currently, the Embassy of Ecuador and the Institute for Export and Investment Promotion in Rotterdam are working with PUM to increase the number of Dutch experts working in the Prometeo program.
In April, SENESCYT Minister Rene Ramirez plans to visit the Netherlands to sign an agreement with PUM.

UNESCO-IHE

On 14 December 2012, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNESCO-IHE and the National Water Secretariat of Ecuador for collaboration in education, joint projects and technical assistance.

Deltares

On 14 December 2012, Ecuadorian ministerial delegates visited the most important water management institutions in the Netherlands, including Deltares.  The year 2013 marks the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation.   In February, 2013, Deltares experts made a preliminary mission to Ecuador and met with the National Water Minister. 

VNG (Association of Dutch Municipalities) and the Mission of Ecuadorian Mayors

A Mission of Mayors from Ecuador took place from 5 – 9 November, 2012, involving the participation of Mayors from seven regions, accompanied by six ministerial delegates.  The delegates participated in workshops with various Dutch institutions such as VNG, companies specialized in water and waste management such as Waternet and OMRIN, respectively. The Mission sought to facilitate the exchange of experiences in the areas of waste and water management, tourism, citizen security and clean mobility.  

Naturalis and Leiden Bio Science Park

The Embassy of Ecuador in the Netherlands is currently in discussions for the collaboration of Naturalis and Leiden Bio Science Park in several national initiatives, including Yasuní ITT and Yachay, City of Knowledge.

Dutch Cycling Embassy

On 7 November 2012, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Groningen between the Association of Ecuadorian Municipalities and the Dutch Cycling Embassy to promote the mass use of the bicycle in Ecuador.  Experts from the DCE will participate in a National level “Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility Workshop” in Quito, Ecuador from 25-28 March 2013, involving 320 public sector and civil society participants, including President Rafael Correa.

Bicycle Factory in Ibarra

Presently, a Dutch investor is working with the Mayor of Ibarra to construct a bicycle factory that will seek to supply bicycles to the local, national and, in the long term, regional markets, as the country promotes sustainable and inclusive mobility in its National Development Plan 2013-2017.

Bicycles for Galapagos

In collaboration with KLM, Hoge Veluwe Park and Dutch NGO Vrienden van Galapagos, 200 bicycles have been donated to the Galapagos Islands, to complement the local clean mobility plan.
